چکیده

In this talk we review recent developments which enable us to use techniques of integrable twodimensional quantum field theories to solve exactly four dimensional N=4 gauge theory through the use of the AdS/CFT correspondence. By ‘solve’ we mean here to find all anomalous dimensions of all operators of the theory for any value of the gauge coupling. We illustrate the methods with the case of the Konishi operator, the simplest operator not protected by supersymmetry, whose perturbative anomalous dimension can be computed from the string side of the AdS/CFT correspondence and is in exact agreement with a direct gauge theory perturbative computation.

Perturbative Approach to Calculating the Correlation Function of bi-isotropic Metamaterials

A bi-isotropic magneto-electric metamaterials is modeled by two independent reservoirs. The reservoirs contain a continuum of three dimensional harmonic oscillators, which describe polarizability and magnetizability of the medium. The paper aimed to investigate the effect of electromagnetic field on bi-isotropic. Starting with a total Lagrangian and using Euler-Lagrange equation, researcher cou...

Status of Supersymmetry Breaking in String Theory*

Recent developments in understanding supersymmetry breaking in superstring theory are summarized. Presented at Particles and Fields ‘91, Vancouver, BC, Canada, August 18-22, 1991 * Work supported by the Department of Energy, contract DE-AC03-76SF00515. Superstring theory appears to be a viable candidate for a consistent theory of quantum gravity which also bears the possibility of unifying of a...

Field Dependent Gauge Couplings in Locally Supersymmetric Effective Quantum Field Theories ⋆

We investigate the field dependence of the gauge couplings of locally supersymmetric effective quantum field theories. We find that the Weyl rescaling of supergravity gives rise to Wess-Zumino terms that affect the gauge couplings at the one-loop level. These Wess-Zumino terms are crucial in assuring supersymmetric consistency of both perturbative and non-perturbative gauge interactions. At the...

Perturbation theory and non-perturbative renormalization flow in scalar field theory at finite temperature

We use the non-perturbative renormalization group to clarify some features of perturbation theory in thermal field theory. For the specific case of the scalar field theory with O(N) symmetry, we solve the flow equations within the local potential approximation. This approximation reproduces the perturbative results for the screening mass and the pressure up to order g3, and starts to differ at ...
